VEWO (Veracruz Worldwide) is a company located in Veracruz Mexico in the business of exporting motor vehicles from Mexico to all parts of the world. VEWO supplies these vehicles to both Specialty Import Dealers in Europe and elsewhere and also to other Motor Vehicle Exporters who do not have an operation in Mexico.

The port city of Veracruz is the major port on the East Coast of Mexico. We also export many vehicles from Manzanillo which is the major Pacific Coast port in Mexico. We have excellent service to most major world ports.

Motor vehicles from Mexico generally have the same specifications as US and Canadian versions. The difference is Price - they cost less here!

VEWO began operations as VAMSA (Veracruz Alrededor del Mundo SA DE CV - Veracruz Worldwide) in 2007 and we have operated continuously since then with steady growth.

OUR
HISTORY

Scott Symonds had operated an Auto Export business in Canada since 1998. In 2005 the CAD (Canadian Dollar) strengthened dramatically and vehicles from Canada were no longer price competitive from Canada relative to the US or Mexico. The industry, which had historically been centered in Canada, was no longer viable. Some exporters left the business. Most relocated their acquisition operations (or entire operation) to the United States. Scott went to Mexico and started over. (He likes doing things the hard way).

Initially in 2006 he was a partner with a former customer from Europe in a business called Leasemex. This marriage ended in divorce in 2007. In July 2007 Scott created VAMSA and in August hired Celina Molina as his Interpreter (he did not speak Spanish) and Assistant. Together they started to build what was to become a great operation.

Raul Flores was hired. His initial roles were acquisition and logistics. Jesus Gordillo joined us as a part-time accounting clerk whilst still in university studying Accounting.

Karla Sanchez was hired to manage our Logistics. We relocated to very nice new premises on Valencia Street.

We enjoyed steady growth we built an accounting department led by Jesus replacing the outside agencies we had previously used. Laura Arenas joined as Accounting Manager, Celina became Sales Director, Ivonne Preza was hired to be Assistant Sales Director, Ricardo Flores became both our IT Manager & Vehicle Technical Expert.

Scott wanted to return to Canada. VAMSA which he owned 100% was wound down and VerMarine was created. It was business as usual except ownership. The new entity was owned by Scott's family, Celina, Raul and Jesus with each Shareholder owning at least 20%.

Gabriela Navarro was hired to manage Logistics. Karla became the Manager of Acquisitions. Raul became Assistant General Manager. By 2015 we were 14 people and needed more space.

Scott and his family relocated to Canada. He commutes to Veracruz every 2nd or 3rd week. Raul became General Manager. We relocated to larger premises - a large house on Pargo Street. We continued to grow and in 2016 we relocated to our current address at Corporativo 415 located on Del Mar Boulevard.

Josue Nieto joined us as Assistant General Manager. Josue is the same age as Celina, Raul, Jesus and most of the team. He was a friend and classmate of Raul, a friend of Scott for 12 years, and he has had a distinguished career with Tenaris-Tamsa before joining us in December. We are lucky to have him.

Today we are 25+ talented Mexicans plus Scott. We have a wonderful team and many wonderful clients. We are fortunate that virtually no one who joins us leaves. They like what we do and how we do it. Our Clients, Service Providers and Suppliers have great comfort and continuity dealing with trusted partners. We moved to new and bigger premises in the Spring.

VEWO is not a Service Business. VEWO is a Vehicle Provider. To do this we provide and / or arrange many services which include:

PURCHASING:

All vehicles are purchased from Official Dealers or "Buyers" who acquired them from Official Dealers. Dealers are not permitted by the manufacturers to export vehicles or to sell vehicles to export companies. So we either use "Buyers" or our own related entities who purchase the vehicles and in turn re-sell them to us. We have a large network of Dealers and Buyers - most of whom we have dealt with for many years.

LOGISTICS:

In the beginning we used a Shipping Agent. Now we have an internal department led by Gaby who coordinates all inland transport and ocean shipping. We also have a team that thoroughly inspects every vehicle we purchase and who also then witness the vehicle being stuffed into a container. In 12 years we have never had damage to a vehicle in a container due to faulty procedures by our team.

CUSTOMS:

We use a very reputable and competent
Customs Broker - the same one for 12 years.

GOVERNMENT
COMPLIANCE:

We have a department led by Jesus and Laura that makes certain we fully comply with all requirements imposed by the Mexican Authorities.
